Varicose veins are enlarged veins that can be flesh colored, dark purple or blue. They often look like cords and appear twisted and bulging. They are swollen and raised above the surface of the skin. Varicose veins are commonly found on the backs of the calves or on the inside of the leg. Spider veins are similar to varicose veins, but they are smaller. They are often red or blue and are closer to the surface of the skin than varicose veins. They can look like tree branches or spider webs with their short jagged lines. Spider veins can be found on the legs and face. They can cover either a very small or very large area of skin.

Hyperpigmentation (sun spots) may be caused by sun damage, inflammation or other skin injuries, including those related to acne. People with darker Asian, Mediterranean or African skin tones are also more prone to hyperpigmentation, especially if they have excess sun exposure. Hyperpigmentation causes the skin to lose its appearance of youthfulness. The most common areas for treatment are the face and neck, but other body parts such as the hands, arms and abdomen are also frequently treated.

Acne is a common skin condition caused by changes in the skin structures via hormone stimulation. It is characterized by whiteheads, blackheads and by inflammatory papules, pustules, and nodules in its more severe forms. Acne affects the face, the upper part of the chest and the back. Acne is commonly referred to as pimples, blemishes, spots or zits. The face and upper neck are the most commonly affected, but the chest, back and shoulders may have acne as well. The upper arms can also have acne. Aside from scarring, main effects of acne are psychological, such as reduced self-esteem and/or depression. Acne usually appears during adolescence, when people already tend to be most socially insecure. Early and aggressive treatment is advocated to lessen the overall impact to clients. Spa Nirvana recommends the use of laser services (Laser Genesis) to combat acne at its’ deepest level in the skin. By using various laser techniques on a scheduled basis, we are able to reduce scarring and help stimulate new skin production. In addition, Microdermabrasion or Chemical Peel (exfoliation of the outermost layer of skin) is used to help unplug pores, thus allowing debris under the skin to escape. Say Goodbye to Rosacea Continuous redness of the skin affects more than one million people, mainly women between the ages of 30 and 50. Rosacea is believed to be hereditary, but can worsen with exposure to various triggers including extreme temperatures, sunlight, stress and certain medications and foods. Rosacea is embarrassing – studies suggest that 74% of patients said they cancel social events during flare ups. In years past, there was little help for those with skin redness. Antibiotics provide some limited benefit, but most Rosacea sufferers relied upon covering their skin with layers of heavy makeup. New technology, however, now offers a way to permanently reduce redness. Spa Nirvana & Laser uses FDA cleared Laser Genesis and intense pulsed light (IPL) to target the tiny blood vessels near the surface of the skin.
